OTTAWA INTERNATIONALS SOCCER CLUB
Development Soccer Program (DSP)
September 6 & 7, 2008 Festival
August 15, 2008
With the summer almost over, we are approaching our last DSP festival for the 2008 season. The following are some of the special events happening:
1- All nets, team supplies and coach books must be dropped off at the truck after the team's last game. It is very important that all is returned in order for the club to prepare next year's replacement order.
2- At this upcoming festival we will be hosting the final of the Shooting Competition. Each team will have one participant, determined in the August festival, who will represent their team. A schedule, by group will be posted on the website. There will be one champion per age group and gender U07 Boys, U07 Girls, U09 Boys, U09 Girls, U11 Boys and U11 Girls.
3- Those teams that have no player yet identified, please forward a name to use as soon as possible.
4- All DSP players will receive a participation medal at the festival. There will be a table set up close to the Registration tent for team managers to pick-up their medals.
5- The Fall Program, which is for players born in 2003 and older, has been posted on the OISC web site. Registrations will be taken at the festival at the information tent. The cost is only $30 except for 1997 players which is $65.
6- The Winter Program will also be taking registrations at the information tent and will be posted on the DSP site before the festival.
7- Player and Coach Evaluations have been sent out to all parents and coaches and at the Registration Table we will have blank copies to complete and will receive completed copies.
Our regular instructions are as follows:
1- The DSP festival for September 6th and 7th will be held at Rideau High School. U-7 and U11 will play on Saturday with U-5 and U-9 playing on Sunday.
2- We are planning for all teams to be present and participating. If not please notify me immediately.
3- Games will be scheduled on the hour. U-7 will get two games while U-9 and U-11 will get three games. All games have two 25-minute halves with a 5-minute half time break. Every game should try and start on time. If your game starts late it ends on the hour no matter what.
4- All games will have referees and each team must have a game sheet in order for the referee to start the game.
5- We will be putting on the website the site map for Rideau High School, game schedules, Shooting competition schedule and the participation medal presentation. Please remember that revisions may have to be made and that you should periodically check the website for changes to the schedule right up to the weekend.
6- The fields will be lined and schedules set out so as to try to minimize the number of U-7 and U-9 games played with common borders; however Rideau High School is a small site. All teams should have an hour break between their games.
7- With regards to nets: for all U-7 games, each team will use their own PUGG net for each game. For the U-9 and U-11, each team who plays a first game on a field must put up their net. These will be taken down for you by the festival staff. PLEASE put these nets up at least 15 minutes before the first game.
8- We will once again provide an information tent and a canteen.
9- We remind all DSP volunteers, coaches and managers to refrain from smoking at the festival. It is obvious why we ask you not to smoke in front of the children since you are role models and we are encouraging a healthy athletic event.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank
all of the players, parents, and especially our great volunteers for their
participation in a wonderful summer of soccer.
