OTTAWA INTERNATIONALS SOCCER CLUB
Development Soccer Program (DSP)
2008 Festival
1- The DSP festival for August 9 & 10 will be held at Brewer Park. U9s will play on Saturday while U7s & U11s will play on Sunday.
2- Games will be scheduled on the hour. U7 and U11 teams will get two games each while U09 will get three games. All games have two 25-minute halves with a 5-minute half time break. Every game must start on time. If your game starts late it ends on the hour no matter what.
3- All games will have referees and each team must have a game sheet provided by the team(s) in order for the referee to start the game. The game sheets are found on the DSP website under forms as well as at the Referee Tent.
4- Please remember that revisions may have to be made and that you should periodically check the website for changes to the schedule right up to the weekend as well as the White Board at the Information Tent.
5- The fields will be lined and schedules laid out so as to minimize the number of U-7 and U-9 games played with common borders. All teams should have an hour off between their games.
6- For games, players and coaches are to be on one side of the field with parents on the other. Please mark a technical area with your cones, which must be on your half of the field.
7- We ask all DSP coaches to wear their DSP coaching shirts so they can be easily identified.
8- There are around 80 teams all together. All groups will hopefully have an even number of teams.
9- With regards to nets, for all U-7 games, each team will use their own PUGG net. For the U-9 and U-11, each team who plays the first game on a field must put up their net and leave it for the day. The net must be picked up after the last game that is played on this field. This is an inconvenience but everyone must take their turn.
We ask that all teams bring their nets in case of any unforeseen problems. With many vacations at this time of year, please be sure to check with whoever is bringing the net for your team.
10- We will once again provide an information tent, referee tent and canteen.
11- Any photos not yet picked up will be at the information tent.
12- Please refrain from parking on the grass, as we cannot help if any driver’s receive tickets.
13- We remind all DSP volunteers, coaches and managers to refrain from smoking at the festival. It is obvious why we ask you not to smoke in front of the children since you are role models and we are encouraging a healthy athletic event.
Special Events:
1 - Keeper Clinic
A keeper clinic will be held on both mornings. Michelle McElliot, the Women’s Premiere goaltender, will be running the event. Boys training will be at 9am, followed by girls at 10am. Please let DSP know if your child will be attending. We accept players on a first-come-first-serve basis. It is not necessary for your team to be participating in the festival to attend the keeper training.
2 - Photo Retakes will be available between 11:30-12:30 on both days.
3 - Shoot-Out Competition: Shoot Through the Hoola Zoo!
A schedule for the shoot-out will be available on the website, along with rules for the event. Each team will have a shooting time similar to the photo schedule at the June Festival. The staff at the event will organize the competition.
